They were a fun little addition and quite easy to make. I was a little surprised at some of the troubles I had with making the iron-on. But in the end, it isn't perfect, (which I suppose is perfectly fitting, because neither are we!) but I like it very much.
Tender Warrior had been out on "Warrior-Duty" for the past two weeks and arrived home just in time to celebrate our anniversary. How amazingly blessed we were to have our oldest three children make us this BEAUTIFUL and SCRUMPTIOUS breakfast! Those peaches have a little story of their own. I think I'll make that the next post. Peach crepes, pancakes shaped as hearts, fresh peaches, homemade grape juice.....oh, I tell you they could open a Bed and Breakfast Inn!
And in the evening we shared a lovely dinner at a local "farm-to-table" restaurant that was outstanding! It was one of those places you really only go on a special occasion like an anniversary. The chef is French-trained, so the food was as beautiful as it was delicious! And it is so fun for me to be inspired to create loveliness in the food I make at home (and get some ideas for what to do with the bounty of local produce we have right now).
So thankful for these years, and for how God has chosen to use the mystery of marriage to continue to teach us deep and abiding truths about our hearts, our sin, what it means to truly love another, and how He humbly uses it all to display the glory of Christ. That is our sincere hope, anyway.
"Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.....In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us."
~1 John 4:7, 10-12, NKJV
Blessings on your 23rd year of marriage! I can't wait until I can say I've been married for 22 years. And that breakfast is beautiful! I'm curious, what is the name of the local restaurant you are referring to?
ReplyDeleteMikaila,
DeleteThanks for the blessings! The restaurant is "Sybaris" downtown. I've eyed it for a long time, but it is pricey, so was perfect for an extra special occasion! It really is lovely--atmosphere, great service, and AMAZING food! Highly recommended! :)
Happy Anniversary, and many more happy years together to both of you:)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Elanee! And thanks for visiting my blog :) Happy Bible Bee week! We sure appreciate all the work you've given this summer.
